RVGC in the Winner’s Circle 😃
The River Valley Garden Club took several awards at the California Garden Clubs Convention held in Irvine in May.
To begin – we took first place at the state level in two categories: (1) Butterfly Conservation (for the program presented by Dr. Art Shapiro of U.C. Davis), and for Publicity Press Book, which is a compilation of all club publicity during the year.
Our club too second place in three categories: (1) Ways & Means (for Trash ‘n Treasures 2015), for Programs, and (3) for Bird Conservation (for our program presented by a member from the Audubon Club of Sacramento County). We also took second place in the Smokey Bear/Woodsey Owl Poster Contest in the fourth grade category for the poster submitted by fourth-grader Seena Land.
Now for the big news: When the Pacific Region Awards were announced, we learned we had taken first place in the
eight-state region for our Publicity Press Book.
And for the REALLY big news: When the National Awards
were announced, we learned we had been awarded
first place for our Publicity Press Book. At the national level!
The River Valley Garden Club continues to be an
award-winning club! Many thanks to everyone who
has worked so hard to achieve this honor.
